#ENDBADGOVERNANCE: Gov Yusuf offers automatic job to 2, hands over 76 anti-hunger protesting teenagers

Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has handed over the 76 children, recently discharged of treasonable felony by Federal High Court, Abuja, to their parents.
Two of them were, however, promised automatic job with the state government while others reinstated back to schools.
The children, arrested by the police during August 1 #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano, went through starvation and untold hardship for three months inside police custody in Abuja, according to a statement by Spokesman of the Governor, Mallam Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa,
Immediately after their discharge and pardon by President Bola Tinubu, Governor Yusuf flew the teenagers back to Kano and admitted them at Muhammadu Buhari Specialists hospital for medical rehabilitation.
While handing them back to their parents on Thursday November 21, 2024, Governor Yusuf applauded President Tinubu’s pardon which precipitated their discharge at the court.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, the Governor, who regretted the destruction of properties worth billions of naira during the protest, insisted that his administration has never supported or instructed any group to go on rampage.
He, therefore, cautioned the teenagers to be responsible citizens of Nigeria and, at all time, be proud ambassadors of Kano State henceforth in pursuit of their education and other endeavours.
Yusuf challenged their parents to be conscious of their parental roles and take full responsibility of the welfare of their wards, insisting that the government would not condole any behaviour that would provoke unrest in Kano.
Earlier, Kano State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, had announced N50,000 cash support offered to each of the 76 children by the Bafarawa Foundation.
Doguwa said his ministry would commence immediate reinstatement of the children back to school as directed.
He explained the job offered to one university undergraduate student was to come to effect as soon as he graduates and that job for the other, who has already completed his NCE programme, would be perfected as soon as possible.
A representative of the parents, Nura Ahmad Muhammed, commended the state government for coming to the rescue of the children and also thanked other private organizations and individuals on their respective efforts during and after the release of their children.
