Edo police, supported by youths, recover N34.5m stolen, vehicles used in Uromi bank robbery incident

The operatives of the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police Force, in conjunction with local vigilantes including Chief John Odijie, the Oniha of Ubiaja led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ubiaja Division, have made a major recovery from hideout of robbery gang, who robbed Uromi Bank in the state, killing people, on Wednesday 24 February, 2022.

The DEFENDER reports that the recovery, aided by information and support from members of the public, was of vehicles used by the robbery gang and which were abandoned after the incident and large sum of money believed to have been carted away from the bank during the incident.

Bags containing recovered N34,510,000 from the gang’s hideout.

The police, accompanied by the community supporters, moved to the location of recovery, acting on credible intelligence.

There was information that some vehicles suspected to have been used by armed robbers in Uromi Bank robbery incident on Wednesday 24/02/2022 and which were seen hidden in Oruen Quaters Bush of Ubiaja in Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to our Correspondent, on receipt of the information, the DPO in charge of Ubiaja mobilized his men who, during the bank robbery operations blocked all the exit routes in and out of Uromi town and, together with the team, immediately stormed the location where the recoveries were made.

Things recovered during the security operation included, vehicles and other items such as: One Red Colour Toyota Camry Car with Reg.No. EZA 105 KJA, One Ashes Colour Toyota Camry Car with Reg. No. KWL 19 DU, One Dark Ashes Colour Corolla Car with Reg. No. UBJ 734 SZ, One Lexus 330 Car with Reg. No. AAA 973 FL, One Red Q. Link M/CYCLE With Reg. No. EZA 105 QN and One Red Day Long M/Cycle With Reg. No. ENU 204 QL.

Other items recovered were two small bags containing women Items, one Union Bank ATM card and cash sum of N34,510,000.00.

No arrest was made of any of the robbers as at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile the Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Philip Aliyu Ogbadu, while symphatising with the familes of those, who lost their lives in the unfurtunate incident, promised not to relent until all those behind the attack are bought to face the full wrath of the law.
