DSS arrests mastermind of Imo INEC office attacks
If the information available to us at The DEFENDER is anything to go by, dark-hearted agents behind the anti-democratic activities leading to attacks of offices of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Imo State may have begun to face consequences of their action.
This was as we learned the Department of State Services (DSS), on Wednesday, arrested two suspects of the criminal agents over the attacks.
The DSS State Director, Wilcox Idaminabo, who reportedly spoke in Owerri at a meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Sylvia Uchenna Agu, said the agency had dislodged camps at Orsu from where the hoodlums launch attacks.
According to him, the raids led to the arrest of a leader and financier of the hoodlums in Orsu.
Idaminabo said the hoodlums have relocated to Aku/Ihube axis along the Okigwe expressway.
“We have continued to comb their camps and cells in Orsu, Njaba, Orlu and Okigwe.
“Our onslaught especially at Njaba left to the arrest of one Ejima who has been threatening to burn down the state and INEC offices.
“I am happy to announce that just last night (Tuesday) we apprehended him and he’s now in our custody.
“We also recovered a lot of arms, ammunition and charms from him,” the DSS chief said.
