Reasons leaders of governments in Nigeria should be conscious of the day of reckoning are unveiling, with immediate past Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, now being called for questioning over dollar videos featuring him during administration.

Thi is as the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), reportedly, said it had summoned the Governor for interrogation over the controversial videos that first came to the public in 2017.

It will be recalled that in that year, a Nigerian online newspaper (not The DEFENDER) released some videos showing former Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje allegedly collecting bribes from contractors, amounting to $5 million.

The videos showed the former governor collecting dollars in bondles and stacking them into his white robe, “babanriga”, but the ex-governor had denied the allegation, saying the videos were doctored.

Ganduje, aside being a sitting governor during the period, was a chieftain of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He is still a member as former governor.

Recently he filed a suit at a Federal High Court seeking perpetual injunction against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from investigating him.

But speaking Wednesday at a one-day public dialogue on ‘Anti-Corruption Crusade in Kano’, Barr Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, chairman of PCACC, said the authenticity of the videos had been confirmed.

A statement issued by spokesperson of the anti-graft agency, Kabir Abba Kabir on Thursday, reportedly said the commission Chairman, Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimigado, had invited the former governor so as to give him fair hearing.

The statement said the former governor is expected to be at the commission by next week for interrogation.

“A, invitation has been sent to Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje to make himself available for interrogation, in line with the provision of the law,” the statement said.
