Delta LG Poll: Thugs attack APC chieftain
Thomas Emami, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State Chapter, escaped death by the whiskers during Saturday’s local government election that took place across Delta State.
The politician, who is now battling with his life at an undisclosed private hospital in Warri, was allegedly brutally attacked by scores of thugs believed to belong to a political party in the state.
Narrating his ordeal, Emami a strong pillar of APC in Warri South-West Local Government Area, said he was one of those nominated by his party to ensure availability of voting materials to be taken from Ogbe-Ijoh to his ward, Akpankpan in Escravos, in the same locality.
“On getting to Ogbe-Ijoh, I was deprived of getting my party material by PDP members, including some commissioners who were on the ground. But when I protested, I was picked by PDP thugs and I was beaten up with all manner of dangerous weapons until security personnel came to rescue me,” said Emami in tears.
