The police chief also emphasised the importance of respectful engagement with members of the public, warning against abuse, harassment, or incivility.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, on June 5, 2026, embarked on a visibility policing and supervisory tour of strategic locations along the Ughelli–Patani Expressway as part of efforts to strengthen security and enforce professional standards among officers.

According to a statement issued by the Delta State Police Command spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, and made available to The Defender, the tour covered key flashpoints including Edjekota Junction, Evwreni Junction, Ohoro Junction, and several stop-and-search points along the expressway.

During the visit, the Commissioner assessed security deployments and addressed officers on duty, commending them for their dedication. He, however, stressed that the command would not tolerate any form of misconduct or public complaints against personnel.

CP Oyeniyi directed officers to maintain proper dress code, present a smart appearance, and conduct themselves in line with the core values of the Nigeria Police Force. He urged them to remain vigilant and professional while carrying out their duties.

The police chief also emphasised the importance of respectful engagement with members of the public, warning against abuse, harassment, or incivility. He reiterated that policing must be carried out with a human face and in strict adherence to human rights standards.

Reassuring residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, CP Oyeniyi called on the public to continue supporting the police by providing credible and timely information to aid crime prevention efforts.
