Osun West Council of Obas inaugurated at Oluwo’s Palace, appoints Oluwo Permanent Chairman

The DEFENDER reports that the motion received unanimous support of the royal fathers present, paving the way for formal inauguration of the council. “Do we all agree that this our gathering represents Osun West?”, the Alawo asked and all the Obas answered in the affirmative.
The Osun West Council of Obas has been formally inaugurated at the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo Land, His Imperial Majesty Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi, marking a significant step toward strengthening unity, cooperation and traditional governance among royal fathers in the Osun West Senatorial District.
The inauguration ceremony brought together prominent traditional rulers from across the district, who unanimously resolved to establish the council as a platform for promoting peace, cultural heritage, regional development and collective engagement on issues affecting their communities.
The motion for the establishment of the Osun West Council of Obas was moved by the Akire of Ikire-Ile, His Royal Majesty Oba Azeez Olatunbosun Adebamiji, who is also the Chairman Traditional Rulers Council Ola-Oluwa Local Government Area of Osun State, and seconded by the Alawo of Awo in Egbedore Local Government, His Royal Majesty Oba AbdulRasaq Taiwo Ajibade Adegboye, Abioye III.

During the meeting, members unanimously appointed the Oluwo of Iwo Land, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, as the permanent chairman of the newly inaugurated council. The appointment reflects the confidence of the monarchs in Oluwo’s leadership and his commitment to fostering collaboration among traditional institutions in Osun West.
As part of efforts to ensure effective communication and prompt dissemination of information, the council immediately created a dedicated social media communication and interaction platform for its members. The platform is expected to facilitate regular consultations, coordination of activities and swift responses to matters concerning the traditional institution and the development of the region.
The inauguration of the Osun West Council of Obas is expected to deepen cooperation among the traditional rulers, enhance their collective voice on issues of public interest and strengthen their partnership with government and other stakeholders in advancing peace, security and socio-economic development across the senatorial district.
