DELTA 2022: Gov Matawalle receives torch of unity

The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle received the Torch of Unity for the 21st Edition of the National Sports Festival tagged ” DELTA 2022 at the Government House, Gusau.

A press release issued by the Press Secretary to the governor, Jamilu Ilyasu stated that

“Governor Bello Matawalle joined the march from Fidelity Bank along Government House road on delivering the torch of unity movement organised by the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development which was presented to the Governor.”

“Governor Bello Matawalle commended the effort of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the various Committees for their commitment towards ensuring the successful hosting of the Games.”

“The governor reiterated his Administration’s commitment to the development of Sports in Zamfara State.”

He also explained that sports has remained a unifying platform for Nigerians, as such government will continue to invest in Sports Development.

The Matawallen Maradun further assured Zamfara State Athletes of government’s support and Sponsorship to the National Sports Festival coming up in Delta State.

Governor Matawalle said Zamfara state is proud with the emergence of the illustrious son of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Kigon Gusau as the National President of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF and assured that the state will continue to support him for his success.

Earlier in his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports Development, Alhaji Habibu Yuguda Gusau described the Festival as the only game where Athletes are been selected to represent the Country at international Competitions.

Alhaji Habibu Yuguda Gusau said Zamfara state Government has selected the best and brightest Athletes who will represent the state in all competition in the 21st edition of the National Sports festival and assured the Governor that the athletes will make him proud by returning back to the state with so many medals.

The special Adviser later received the Torch of Unity from the representative of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports and handed it over to the Governor.

In a remark, the representative of the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, who is also the Northwest Zonal Coordinator of Youths and Sports Development Muhammad Kabir Datti told the Governor that the Torch of Unity movement symbolizes the participation of the State at the Forthcoming National Sports Festival.

The National Sports Festival will commence on the 28th November, to 10th December 2022.

The event was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe Sardauna, Chief of Staff Government House, Malam Ibrahim Suleiman, State Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Gayari, the state commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Lawal Abubakar Zannan Badarawa, Chairman State House of Assembly committee on Sports, Hon Aliyu Namaigora, the vice chairman of the committee, Hon Dahiru Adabka, and a delegation from Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Director General Sports Development, Alhaji Jamilu Haruna Kalale, Directors of the State Directorate of Sports Development, and other management staff of the Ministry and the Sports Council.
