Deji of Akure jets to Sokoto on 3-day visit to Sultan

All arrangements are in top gear as the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi Odundun II, is set to embark on a three-day working visit to the Seat of Caliphate as royal guest of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.

The plane conveying the Deji, which will depart the Murtala Muhammed Airport Ikeja, Lagos on Monday July 1, 2019, is expected to touch ground at the Sultan Abubakar Airport Sokoto at about 1.30pm.

Oba Aladelusi, who will be received at the Airport by two high ranking members of Sultanate Council, will during his three-day stay in the Seat of Caliphate pay a courtesy visit to the Sultan’s Palace, during which he will address a meeting session of the Sultanate Council to be presided over by Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, who is also the Amirul Mu’mineen of Nigeria.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Deji of Akure, Mr. Michael Adeyeye in a statement he sent to The DEFENDER, said the Deji is equally scheduled to, on the sideline of visit to the Sultan, pay a courtesy call on the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, at the Government House, Sokoto.

The Akure monarch, he said, would use the occasion of the visit to pay a thank you visit to the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Reverend Father Matthew Hassan Kukah, who was in Akure to deliver the 2018 Ulefunta Lecture.

The Deji is expected to discuss the issue of security and other matters of national importance with the Sultan during the visit.

The Sultan is expected in Akure in September this year during which he will deliver the 2019 Ulefunta Lecture.

The Deji, who will lead a 20-man high power delegation of prominent Nigerians who are sons of Akure to the ancient City of Sokoto, is expected back in Akure on Wednesday July 3, 2019.
