Recall that Shettima was the two-term Governor of Borno State, whose goodness and balance towards Christians in the predominantly Muslim state have just been thrown to the winds by the same Northern Christians because they burned their fingers in unfortunate fire of Nigerian politics, when they should simply be the clergymen they are called for peace to reign in the land.
The wedding fatiha in Maiduguri, on Saturday, therefore served as a signature to the popularity of the bride’s father as dignitaries across tribes, religions and political groups raced to be counted as part of the august occasion.
Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC Presidential Candidate, led other dignitaries to attend the wedding ceremony of the daughter of the running mate, where the Presidency was represented by the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, and National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno.

Governors Mai-Mala Buni of Yobe, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, Chairman, Ulama Council of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdul-Fattahi Thani, and others also graced in way that added colours to the event.
The marriage rites were conducted at the Shehu of Borno’s palace where the bride, Fatima, was represented by Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, while the groom, Sadiq Ibrahim, the son of former Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ibrahim Bunu, was represented by former Governor of Bauch State, Adamu Muazu.
