Lagos State Task Force says it has served a 7-day removal notice on all owners or occupiers of illegal structure and shanties including containarised shops around Abattoir and Oko-oba, Agege to remove them with immediately effect.

Head, Public Affairs Unit, Lagos State Task Force, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, stated this in a statement he issued in Lagos on Tuesday copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER.

According to the statement, the Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, who led the enforcement team of the Agency in serving the notices, disclosed that over 2500 illegal structures and shanties including containarised shops were served ‘Removal Order’ within abattoir and Fagba by Railway side, in Agege, Lagos.

SP Egbeyemi disclosed further that these illegal shanties were occupied by miscreants and hoodlums who terrorised innocent citizens around Agege by dispossessing them of their valuables such as phones, wallets and jewelleries both in the early morning and late at night.

“It was an eye-sore with miscreants and hoodlums freely smoking and selling Indian hemp including prostitution by under age boys and girls around the area,” he said.

He stated that residents around Oko-oba railway line including Estate could no longer sleep with their two eyes closed as there were series of complaints about criminal activities of these miscreants and hoodlums.

The agency’s boss stressed that these illegal shanties within Abattoir aside of being on the landscape of the Abattoir complex and harbouring miscreants are contributing to the growing concern of health, environment and safety issues in and around Agege area.

SP Egbeyemi commended Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for spending much on infrastructural development across the State which includes construction of more roads around Agege and fly over for motorists at Pen-cinema.

He maintained that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP EDGAL IMOHIMI had directed that immediately after the expiration of the 7-day ‘Removal Notice” any miscreants or hoodlums arrested be charged to court for prosecution.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police directed further that the Chairman of Taskforce SP Olayinka Egbeyemi should carry out raid on all criminal hideouts and black-spots across the State.

CP EDGAL IMOHIMI however confirmed that the Lagos State Police Command would not relent in securing a safe environment for citizens within the State and the country at large.
