Cries of marginalisation by Igbo and IPOB’s agitations, a mere hypocrisy of the elites
Related on his Facebook wall by United Kingdom-based forensic and scientific expert and President of CUPS, Dr. Idris Ahmed, Rita Umeh wrote in a short piece she titled “Marginalisation and IPOB Hypocrisy”, in a manner that has linked many with recent past of the attitude of how Igbo had managed powers of this country to the detriment of other regions, under a President they publicly confirmed to be Igbo President, Goodluck Azikiwe Ebele Jonathan (GCFR). The urge to publish the piece became imperative, therefore, due to request of some of The DEFENDER’s public readers – home and abroad – who said this media outfit would have helped a great deal of Nigerian uninformed or vulnerable population, if it could pick and publish this piece by Rita Umeh, obviously an Igbo lady wanting the world to know that there are still much more reasonable Igbo, who will do anything to protect the dignity and territorial integrity of Nigeria and that she is one of them. Welcome to the Rita’s piece and don’t forget to leave a comment behind through our email, thedefenderngr@gmail.com, after reading. To other Nigerians, we will not be called journalists, doctors, accountants, human rights lawyers, taxi drivers if after our nonchalance and promotion of hate speeches we are all clamped in refugee camps in neighbouring countries. Our only identity will be ‘Nigerian refugees’. The only ones that have identity in such situation are the Nigerian soldiers and President. Then do your best today to talk sense to the brains of others. This is message from The DEFENDER as you read Rita. Excerpts:
In 2012, the Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, sacked eight general managers at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), six of whom were Yoruba. Shortly after that, Stella Oduah from the South East employed 75 workers, 40 of whom were from the Southeast, her geo-political zone.
At the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), another agency under the minister, she recruited about 107 workers, with 68 per cent hailing from the Southeast. Stella Oduah minister sacked the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Captain Adebayo Araba and replaced him with Captain Chinyere Kalu from the Southeast.
When all these were going on, under Goodluck Azikwe Jonathan, the Yoruba did not call Igbo “cows” and “animals”. I don’t remember anyone organizing a Radio to call for the dissolution of Nigeria during that time. Of course, IPOB was silent, Ben Akabueze, Emeka Anyaoku, Pat Utomi and other Igbo leaders of thought did not remember “Igbo marginalization” during that period.
This is just to remind us all that, marginalization is only a song for the elites. They beat the drum louder when they are no longer part of the main “chop-chop” cabinet.
