COUNTDOWN TO CILRMN/The DEFENDER’S APRIL 28: Meet Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Muttawallen Sokoto, the Lawyer, the Lawmaker and Governor
In office as governor, Tambuwal has, without mindset of show-off, buried himself among the crowd that he walks around in his state of jurisdiction like an ordinary citizen. Hardly is it detected that governor is passing until one noticed experience when at a point he had to alight from his car driven by himself and order a traffic light breaking motorist to return to normal position and obey the rules. That singular outing alone is enough to tell who a true leader is. A true leader is one who feels secured being in the midst of his people without a shield making him inaccessible to them. Tambuwal is one of such species of leadership: Very respectful! Very religious! Very polite! Very selfless! Very considerate! And when playing politics, very highly moral and faith conscious!
It is worthy of mention that among few Nigerians of leadership qualities is the man who went through persecutions of some Federal Might, at a time he was Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives and Deputy Chairman of National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but beat them all hands down. He is Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is an embodiment of respect not only in the public but even people, especially the general masses who have been in close relationship with him, have told their stories of an enigmatic, pragmatic and exceptionally charismatic person in the man whose ascension to the Seat of Power as Governor of Sokoto State continue to be described as more of natural than political. The wisdom that led the Tambuwal’s Team to climbing the gate of the National Assembly, at a time doing so became the only option left to save soul of the nation continues to marvel rational minds. That is the power of charisma radiating from the personality that is rooted in Barrister Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the embodiment of respect that is the Mutawalle of Sokoto, the Seat of Caliphate!
A very faith-based and moral conscious leader, when his security protections were withdrawn by those who believed that the powers they possessed were by their own making, the man who became Governor of Sokoto State on the ground of personal popularity unwaveringly pushed on, unguarded, but with consistent belief that “only Allah the Giver and Taker of life is the ultimate protector” and that whoever is protected by Allah is the one who has found protection and who is not protected by Allah has only risked being in the fool paradise of his own imagination. On that note, when his adversaries could no longer comprehend how he was surviving their “encouraged onslaught”, where by people in babariga and turban (just like Gasuat Badru of the days of the Prophet) became unbreakable shield around him, they did not know how they themselves became the ones to join in quick release of his earlier withdrawn security protections especially when his victory as Governor-elect made that inevitable.
It is also worthy of note that if those adversaries had been able to find incriminating substances in Tambuwal, they would have used it against him. But much as they tried to implicate him through an anti-corruption crusade they never activated for once for the six years of their last administration, they ended up being confused because Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is another clean (he may not be the perfect as only Allah is perfect) person that the Northern Nigeria has produced from Sokoto State.
And when playing politics, very highly morally and faith conscious!
The Muttawalen Sokoto and Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. Barrister Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, will be decorated as Patron and honourary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria (CILRMN) at the maiden edition of Lecture/Award organised by the Institute in collaboration with The DEFENDER Online Media, at the prestigious Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja April 28 of this month.
Bola Ajibola to personally lead the honour for Sultan, Aisha Buhari, Governors Tambuwal, Ajimobi, Gen. Olanrewaju, others
Aside the interest he has in encouraging the organisations of young minds doing great things for the love of country and who have put the Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja event together under the partnership of the Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria and The DEFENDER Online Media, Prince Bola Ajibola (SAN) is particularly feeling honoured that he is once again going to be on seat while His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, Sultan of Sokoto and Sarikin Mu’mineen of Nigeria will be giving keynote address and – along with Wife of the President Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, former Minister of Communications, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju and other doing-well Nigerians – will be conferred with the honourary FELLOWSHIP as mark of recognition for their exemplary contributions to saving the soul of the nation April 28 of this month.
Whereas Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III’s contributions to national, continental and global peace and development have been noticed by both the United Nations and the Vatican such that when the need to address each of the bodies arose in the past he was readily invited to address it on global security, peace and conflict resolution, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari’s celebration for her being useful woman, wife and mother complimenting her husband in a challenging period of national rebuilding, as well as Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s ability to scale through the complicated risks posed to his office as Speaker of House of Representatives (2011-2015) and his person by the highest power in the country at the time continue to impress the Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria (CILRMN) and The DEFENDER, which have therefore deemed it fit to show the rest of Nigerians and the world in general that resilience and perseverance at struggle for better society pay.
Governor Ajimobi’s specific quality that is known to the honouring organizations will come handy as General Tajudeen Olanrewaju will be celebrated for his giant stride, not only in successfully transforming the Nigeria’s communications sector in his days as minister, but also in various commitments he had made to national developments for the years his military career lasted, particularly as General Officer Commanding (GOC) Third Armoured Division, Nigerian Army.
Although details of the programme will continue to unfold as the count-down begins, two top Nigerian intellectuals including the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Ms Lauretta Onochie, and Dr. Mustapha Muktar of the Department of Economics, Bayero University Kano (BUK), will present papers, respectively, on the theme, “Towards National Integration and Economic Development of Nigeria: The Online Media and Risk Management Approach”.
The Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer, Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria (CILRMN), one of the partners, Dr. Uzombah Innocent (FCILM), “We have decided to plan big for these great Nigerians to appreciate our doing-well people right in their lifetime. We observe that Nigerians have all along appreciated their great minds only after they have passed on. CILRMN and The DEFENDER are changing the narratives. There are many other great Nigerians but our event for the celebration of them is continuous,” Uzombah said.
Talking about the Institute, the CILRMN boss said, “The Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria (CLRMN) was established primarily to fill the void in the specialist professional disciplines of loan and risk management practice, thereby complementing the noteworthy contributions of individual, academia and other professional bodies. The evolving highly competitive global economic scenario, with its demand for top flight efficiency and effectiveness have made it essential for specialist professional focus on loan and risk management as in the case already in the more advanced countries and a number of emerging economies of the world.”
Speaking further he said, “The DEFENDER is an online media that has moved straight into the global scene delivering knowledge-driven, non-sensational journalism in Nigeria with a clear vision of defending the truth and national integrity. It aims to be the most respected online media in Nigeria and beyond,” he said.
Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria has its Council constituted by Chief Sir O.A. Bailey (FCILRM), President/Chairman, Prof. Onatolu Odukoya (FCILRM), Alhaji Abubakar A.
