Controversial Fani-Kayode hits Tinubu’s APC loyalists over Fayemi’s suspension
*Says accusing governor for anti-party activities because he visited him is absurd
Controversial politician, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, has slammed the faction, believed to be loyal to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, for suspending Governor Kayode Fayemi and citing his visit to the governor as one of the reasons for the decision.
According to him, accusing Fayemi of anti-party activities and suspending him because of that is absurd.
Fani-Kayode, in his reaction on Friday to the announcement of Governor Fayemi’s suspension by the Ekiti State Executive Committee of the party, maintained that Fayemi is a loyal member of the APC and wondered how visiting a long standing friend could be termed anti-party.
The Ekiti State Executive Committee of the APC had in a statement announcing Fayemi’s suspension said: “That Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State is hereby suspended from the Party in view of his numerous anti-party activities especially his role in the recent concluded governorship election in Edo State which is contrary to the provisions of Article 21 (A) (ii) of the APC Constitution.
“For five days prior to the Edo elections, Gov Fayemi hosted PDP big wig Mr. Femi Fani- Kayode in the government house in Ado Ekiti in the run-up to the Edo elections. It was here they perfected the coup against our party in Edo State. This is the same Fani-Kayode who daily abuses President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the APC as a party as well a vital section of our country. We have evidence of that meeting.
“Fani-Kayode specifically said he has gone on his tour as part of an effort between him and Fayemi to build a cross-party alliance and few hours after leaving Ekiti he fired a shot at Asiwaju Tinubu.”
However, tweeting on his verified Twitter account on Friday, Fani-Kayode said: “@kfayemi is a loyal member of @OfficialAPCNg whilst I am in @OfficialPDPNig. Accusing him of “anti-party activities” & attempting to suspend him from his party because I visited him to discuss nat. & SW issues is absurd. Is it “anti-party” to meet with a friend of over 30 years?
“..Is it “anti-party” to apttempt to engender peace in our nation & to build bridges across regional, ethnic, religious and party lines? Is it “anti-party” to practice politics without bitterness?…
“…We must accept the fact that talking to those thet we do not agree with politically is something that ought to be encouraged. Politics is not war!”
The Ekiti APC had earlier suspended President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide on Political Matters, Mr. Babafemi Ojudu and 10 others also for anti-party activities.
