Companion hosts NAHCON boss, Ogun Chief of Staff to reception in Lagos
Newly appointed Chairman, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullahi Hassan, and Chief of Staff to the Ogun State Governor, Alhaji Afolabi Salis, were on Sunday treated to a reception of honour in appreciation of their being good ambassadors of Muslim Ummah in government at their respective Federal and state levels.
Delivering his lecture at the event held in the Lagos State House of Assembly Mosque, National Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh AbdulRahman Ahmad advised, particularly the NAHCON Chairman, Hassan, against seeing himself, which in most cases is responsible for the downfall of many leaders in the past.
“You need to be careful with those who have served those before you because the advisers of your predecessors are likely to be your advisers and so be careful of the pitfalls of those before you.”
Sheikh Ahmad advised him not to be like ordinary people of yesterday who, having got to power today, become power drunk not to allow people, who most of the times may be good advisers to move near him.
Goodwill messages givers included the immediate past Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Idiat Adebule, Chairman Finance Committee of Muslim Ummah if Western Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti, National President, Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Balogun, National Missioner Al-Fatihul Quareeb Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdul-Rahman Adamgba and Chairman, UNILAG Alumni, Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Bakare among others.
Speaking, Alhaji Ebiti urged members of the Muslim Ummah to support Hassan in office as NAHCON Chairman and other honouree in Ogun State Chief of Staff, Alhaji Salis, with prayers.
“Let us not leave them alone. Their success is our success likewise their failure is our failure. So, we must not leave them alone,” Ebiti said.
Referring to the honourees as good ambassadors of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) that is enduring legacy of late Dr. Lateef Adegbite, former Secretary General Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Bakare said: “I have no doubt in my mind that the two of them (honourees) will succeed. So we pray for you that you will succeed.”
Very many Muslim dignitaries including media executives graced the event.
