BREAKING: SSS DG, Lawal Daura, sacked
The Director-General, State Security Service (SSS), Mallam Lawal Daura, has been sacked, Presidency discloses.
He was sacked noon of Tuesday for reason not yet made known.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, Mr. Laolu Akande, disclosed this on his twitter handle through which he hinted that the Daura had been directed by the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to handover to the most senior officer of the State Security Service (SSS).
“AgP Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the DG of the DSS, Mr. Lawal Musa Daura.
“Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice,” Laolu Akande said in the tweet.
Efforts by this online newspaper to get to the root of why Daura was sacked proved abortive as neither any Presidency official nor the sacked DG SSS himself picked our calls put up with intent to know.
The DEFENDER’s findings however revealed that the relief of the chief secret agent was not unconnected with the Tuesday morning siege allegedly laid on the National Assembly whereby lawmakers of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from both chambers were blocked from gaining entry into the National Assembly Complex.
