BREAKING: Police Council confirms Usman Alkali Baba as Inspector General of Police in Nigeria

The Nigerian Police Council has confirmed Alhaji Usman Alkali Baba as the substantive Inspector General of Police, almost two months after President Muhammadu Buhari approved his appointment.

Usman Baba was confirmed on Friday 4 June, 2021, during a meeting of the council in Abuja presided over by President Buhari.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, who confirmed the development during a briefing after the meeting, quoted President as urging the IGP to justify the confidence reposed in him by reducing the rising wave of insecurity in the country.

The DEFENDER recalls a major hit by the Usman Alkali Baba, in a recent video while addressing police officers and men, charging them to take the war against insecurity to the gates of the enemies of Nigeria.
