BREAKING: Nigeria beats Cameroon 2-0 in AFCON’s Round of 16
*Qualifies for quarter-finals, to face Angola in next stage

The much expected Round of 16 match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, at the ongoing African Cup of Nation (AFCON) 2023 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire capital, ended Saturday night with Nigeria defeating Cameroon 2:0.
By the two goals fired and scored by Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman, hand Nigeria’s Super Eagles a 2-0 win over Cameroon in the second match of the Round of 16 matches at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, Nigeria has now comfortably qualified for the quarter-finals stage of the soccer competition.
Lookman had scored the opening goal for Nigeria in the 36th minute after Napoli goal poacher Victor Osihmen set a perfect assist to put Nigeria ahead. He then added the second goal in stoppage time.
Meanwhile, Angola, which had earlier defeated Namibia 3-0, will be the quarter-finals opponent of the Super Eagles of Nigeria when the next match comes up on Friday February 2, 2024.
