President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, resumes work at his office in Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President upon resumption held separate meetings with the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mallam Abubakar Malami (SAN), and Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corportation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru.

The absence of Buhari at key government functions had fuelled speculations about his health, with critics mounting pressure on him to step down.

Lagos lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and other rights activists had on Monday called on the President to urgently embark on medical leave.

But the wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari, in tweet on Tuesday, declared that the health status of her husband was not as bad as being perceived.  She disclosed that President Buhari is fit and will continue to carry out his responsibilities.

She took to her verified Twitter account to speak health status of the President, following calls by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana and 12 other rights activists that Buhari should proceed on a medical vacation to attend to his ill-health.

President Muhammadu Buhari, it would recalled, had announced upon his return from United Kingdom medical vacation that his doctors had asked him to have enough time to rest, which was what he had just observed until he resumed on Tuesday.

Addressing State House reporters after his meeting with the President, the Justice Minister Abubakar Malami (SAN), ‎who is a member of ‎the Yemi Osinbajo-led presidential committee probing suspended Secretary to the Government of the General of the Federation (SGF) Babachir David Lawal and Director-General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Ayodele Oke, said the final report of the probe committee would submit its report on Wednesday.

Malami however declined to comment on whether or not the committee would yield to the call by former External Affairs Minister Bolaji Akinyemi, who said the report of the probe should not be made public.

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikati Baru, told State House correspondents that he briefed President Muhammadu Buhari during his own separate meeting on the activities of the corporation, its subsidiaries and on the relative stability in the nation’s oil and gas sector in recent time.

Baru said the President expressed delight over the reported stability in the oil and gas sector.

“I briefed Mr. President on the state of the NNPC and its subsidiaries and also nationally to get him briefed on the situation of fuel supply, crude oil productions, gas production and by extension, ability to supply gas to the power sector,” he said.

“We had an extensive briefing as you could see; I passed here over two hours. I spent quite some time with him to discuss these national issues.

“He was happy with the state of the corporation and told us to continue with the efforts that we are doing and if we need any executive attention we should not hesitate to come back to him.

The NNPC GMD disclosed that following the peace and stability being enjoyed in the nation’s oil and gas sector, the nation recorded two million barrels of crude oil production on May 2.

He said the NNPC had no plan to increase the prices of its products as being speculated.

In the meantime, a source in Lagos has called on Vice President Yemi Osinbajo not to heed the call by former External Affairs Minister Bolaji Akinyemi asking him not to make public the report of his probe committee on SGF and DG NIA.
