In what looks like youths operating with their consciousness of cultural values of respect for leadership, the coalition of Northern group, Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, following the Monday nationwide broadcast by President Muhammadu Buhari and Wednesday’s bold statement by Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has withdrawn the earlier quit notice it issued the Igbo people living in the North to vacate the region before October 1.

The group also accused the Igbo of amassing weapons in the North.

The Coalition of Northern Youth Groups (CNYG) made the withdrawal on Thursday at a World Press Conference held at Transcorp Hilton hotel in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Among those present at the conference include the Governor of Borno State and Chairman of Northern Governors’ Forum, Alhaji Kashim Shetima, ex- Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Kabiru Gaya, ex-Minister, Alhaji Sani Daura and Alhaji Shetima Yerima of Arewa Youths Council.

Recall that the Northern group had given reasons for issuing the eviction order as being a response action to the sit-at-home call the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu had made which saw massive compliance in the Southeast.

Although much condemnations had trailed the eviction notice the Northern group had issued Ndigbo even as most of the condemnation stopped at no point to condemn the excesses of Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB threatening collective existence of the country, the Arewa Youths group had maintained its stand.

Consequently, some Yotuba youths under the Oduduwa Republic Group had equally responded with similar orders to the Igbo leaving in Lagos and Southwest while a Niger Delta militant group also gave same notice for Northerners and Southwesters to quite their region.

Although the Nothern Youths, much condemned as it was for issuing the quit notice, had achieved the goal of it as many Igbo political, traditional and government leaders, who hitherto supported IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu and kept silence over their excesses, started to publicly condemn the secessionist group and his leader.

With the presidential broadcast saying Nigeria’s collective existence was settled and nonnegotiable and Sultan of Sokoto saying nobody can give anybody quit notice to leave any part of Nigeria, Northern youths have rescinded their quit order to Igbo although Nnamdi Kanu and other Igbo youths continued to flout all laws and orders as if, according to a respondent, they are bigger than the country.
