BREAKING: Adeleke sworn-in as new Osun Governor

Ademola Adeleke has been sworn in as the Governor of Osun State.

The swearing-in took place at the Osogbo City Stadium.

Adeleke, who contested the governor election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeated Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was seeking re-election.

Adeleke secured 403, 371 votes to defeat Oyetola who polled 375,027 votes.

Present in the main bowl of Osogbo City Stadium to witness the event were dignitaries including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Presidential Candidate and his running mate, Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa respectively, the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Udom Emmanuel.

Also present were, Governor of Sokoto State and Acting Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, Governor of Bayelda State, Chief Duoye Diri, Former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

Also at the venue were Wife of the PDP presidential candidate, Titi Atiku, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi Adewale, and former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, among others.

Ademola Adeleke, who has been projected will surprise Nigerians as he will be more a serious governor than his popular “dancing senator” stuff, became the sixth Osun State Governor following his swearing in and administration of oaths of allegiance and office by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo.

Justice Adepele-Ojo also administered the oaths on the new Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adegboyega Adewusi.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has reversed the name of the State from “State of Osun” to “Osun State” and also reversed its appellation from “The State of the Virtues” to “The State of the Living Spring”.

Adeleke also reversed all appointments made by the immediate past governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, effective from July 7th, 2022.

Governor Adeleke ordered that all government bank accounts be frozen.

He also stated that all actions of the Oyetola administration from July 17th will be revisited.
