Bindow wins Adamawa APC Governorship primaries
Governor Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa State has finally emerged as the governorship flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the 2019 elections.
Bindow, who polled 193,656 votes, defeated his closet rival, Mahmood Halilu Ahmed (Modi), who had 15,498 votes and Nuhu Ribadu, the anti corruption czar came third with 8,604 votes.
The Chairman of the panel constituted by the APC National Working Committee to oversee the primary, is yet to declare Bindow as the party’s candidate.
New Nigerian reports that with this victory, Bindow will be contesting against the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Umaru Fintri, Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako of the ADC, Emmanuel Bello of SDP and those of other parties.
It would be recalled that on Saturday, while results were still been collated, two key aspirants of the APC in the persons of Dr Mahmood Halilu ( the President’s in law also know as Modi) and Former EFCC Boss, Malam Nuhu Ribadu had told journalist at separate occasion that no primary election took place in the entire state.
According to them, the process has been hijacked by the state government and its conspirators.
Modi therefore condemned the entire exercise in totality, describing it as a charade.
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, while speaking in the same vein, called for outright cancellation of the exercise.
