US President Joe Biden on Sunday congratulated Emmanuel Macron on re-election as the president of France.
“Congratulations to Emmanuel Macron on his re-election,” he said on Twitter. “France is our oldest ally and a key partner in addressing global challenges.”
“I look forward to our continued close cooperation — including on supporting Ukraine, defending democracy, and countering climate change,” the US president said.
France has wrapped up a runoff vote. The country’s Interior Ministry said Macron collected 57.41% of the vote after 97% of the ballots were counted. His rival
Marine Le Pen, a candidate of the National Rally party, conceded defeat but said her performance was a “resounding success.”. TASS
