BELGRADE 2022: Police Constable Nathaniel Samson shines, qualifies to represent Nigeria at World Championship
The administration of the Nigerian Police Force by its Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Usman Alkali Baba may have been blessed with yet another rising star in global sports, as Police Constable, PC Nathaniel Samson qualifies to represent Nigeria at World Athletics Indoor Championship for this year.
This is as Team Nigeria prepares to proceed for the Championship and PC Samson has once again shown class, as he emerged one of the four quartermilers for Team Nigeria, who will be competing in the 4x400m Relay Race at the international sports competition.
PC Samson, who enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in the year 2018, have been identified as one of the promising and budding talents, groomed to make the Force and Nigeria proud on the global frontier.
The DEFENDER reports that he has since his enlistment lived up to expectations, as he was particularly instrumental to the Nigerian 4x400m Relay Male Team, winning a Bronze Medal at the Algiers 2019 – All Africa Games.
The super quartermiler has shown yet again that the feat was surely to be e-pluribus unum, as despite the COVID-19 pandemic induced postponement of sporting activities, he still qualified to represent Nigeria at the Tokyo 2020 World Olympics 4x400m Mixed Relay, in 2021, when global sporting activities resumed.
For the forthcoming World Athletics Indoor Championship, scheduled for Belgrade – Serbia from 18th to 20th March, 2022, the young and promising PC will be joined by other equally promising members of the quartet namely Sikiru Adeyemi, Ifeanyi Ojeli and Timothy Emeoghene.
Other members of Team Nigeria to compete in the Championship are Rose Usoro – the NCAA Indoor Triple Jump Champion and Ese Brume – the Tokyo 2020 World Olympics Bronze Medalist in Long Jump, who is reported to be leading the Team.
The Nigeria Police Force Sports is not only proud of PC Nathaniel Samson, but also wish him the very best of favour and fortune, especially as he has shown promise to relive and extend the records of the Nigerian great Olympian, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunday Bada of blessed memory, currently the only Nigerian to have won multiple medals (Two Silver Medals in 1993 and 1995 and One Gold Medal in 1997), at the World Athletics Indoor Championships, since its inception in 1987.
