Award-winning Crescent Varsity Alumnus, Abdullahi Maiwada,visits Alma Mater

*Attends NPR conference

The best Spokesperson of the year 2024 and alumnus of Crescent University Abeokuta, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada, a Chief Superintendent of Customs, has paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of his alma mater, Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila.

Maiwada, the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, is one of the delegates at the ongoing National Public Relations (NPR) Conference in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The conference, organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and hosted by the Ogun State chapter, was the maiden edition.

According to Maiwada, visiting Crescent University, his Alma Mater was part of his itinerary in Abeokuta to pay his homage to the Citadel of Academic and Moral Excellence.

In his words, “my serving in Abeokuta and attending Crescent University for my two degrees positively influenced my status as Spokesperson in the Nigeria Customs Service”, he said, pledging his support and loyalty to his Alma Mater.

Welcoming Maiwada, the vice Chancellor Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila said “we are very proud of your achievements and those of other alumni”, adding that the Department of Mass Communication of Crescent University had the best scores in the previous National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise.

In his remarks, Head of Department of Mass Communication, Dr Kola Adesina said he was not surprised rise to his current position in the service of the Nigeria Customs Service since he was always exceeding expectations during his studentship.

Adesina expressed his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor and Registrar, Barr. Zakariyya Ajibola for leaving high paying jobs in the United Kingdom contributing hugely to the growth of the institution.

On the entourage of CSC Abdullahi Maiwada were Deputy National PRO Customs, Mr Titus Omajali, Ogun State Customs PRO,Mr Dauda Adamu and Mr Folorunso Adeogun of Public Relations Unit of Customs Headquarters in Abuja.

The vice chancellor was joined by other members of the university management namely: Barr. Zakariyya Ajibola,Registrar; Oladejo Azeez Esq., Director of Special Duties;Dr Kola Adesina, Scholar Jamiu Folarin, Scholar Kehinde Adekunjo and Idris Katib, Senior Assistant Registrar Public Relations
