Arise TV lands in trouble, slammed N2m fine over fake news against Tinubu

The Arise TV in Nigeria has landed in trouble with National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) having breached broadcasting code in course of duty.

The television station was sanctioned for airing fake reports about the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The NBC awarded a penalising fine of N2 million against Arise TV for its breach of the broadcasting code.

It will be recalled that the erring broadcasting station had apologised on Sunday after reporting that the Independent National Broadcasting Commission (INEC) was investigating Tinubu in a report.

INEC had to take then pain to debunk the report, a development that forced the station to retract the report and apologise to Tinubu.
