APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, visits Yobe flood affected community, makes cash, food donations

The youthful National Youth Leader of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Dayo Israel, on Tuesday, visited the Jumbam community in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State, North East, affected by flood incident recently.
During the visit, Hon Israel announced a cash donation of N2 million, 50 bags of rice among other food items, which he said were meant to support the flood victims in the community.
The nation’s APC youth leader, who was accompanied to the community by the Yobe State Youth Leader, Malam Abubakar Mai Mala Buni, and several others including Bashir Ahmad el-Rufai by boat, said he made the donations in the name of APC Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice Presidential Candidate Senator Kashim Shettima, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and Minister of Power Abubakar Aliyu.
The visit Tuesday showed the 2023 direction of people in the part of Yobe State as they screamed “Jagaban! Jagaban!! Jagaban!!!” at any mention of “my candidate” by the national youth leader.
“The flood was so bad, people were lost in this community but God still kept a lot, majority of people here alive. For those who have gone, we pray to God to welcome them into Al-Jannah Firdaus.
“But for those, who are left behind, I bring you the greetings of the presidential candidate of our party, the APC, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the next President of Nigeria inshallah. I bring you the greetings of His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, the next vice president of Nigeria inshallah. I now join my state youth leader, the one and only Babangida Jajere and all the eminent young leaders who are here,” he said.
Delivering the message of the Presidential Candidate, Dayo Israel said, “Jagaban said I should tell you that he thinks so much about you, that he feels so bad about what has happened and that he prays that God will continue to keep this community and this state, and that God will bless all the families in this Jumbam community and its environs, and keep all of you beyond 2023 by the grace of God.
“He said I should thank you for voting APC back to back, top to bottom and that, by the grace of God next year election, when he becomes President, he will do everything to develop this community,” he said.
Jumbam is a community in Tarmuwa Local Government Area headquartered in Babangida town, which falls within the territory of Jajere Emirate in Yobe State, North East Nigeria.
The council, with an area of 4,594 km2 and a population of 177,204 as at the 2006 census, lost about 11 of its population from the Jumbam and Kaliyari communities side to flood at the tail end of September, 2022.
The DEFENDER reports that Jumbam and Kaliyari communities were ravaged by devastating floods in the Tarmuwa Local Government Area of the state necessitating that the governor, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni on inspection, had to use a helicopter to access the affected area as all roads leading to them were destroyed by the floods.
Official information said the flood, triggered by torrential rains, had destroyed 180 houses and washed off 752 hectares of farmlands with two passenger boats bound for Babangida weekly market capsized in a flood wave in the area during the incident.
