Another sun set midnight as Prof Lanre Badmas dies in Ilorin

Media record shows that he recently commended the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for returning the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to the office of the Vice President.

The National Chairman, Hijrah Organisation of Nigeria, Professor Yusuf ‘Lanre Badmas, has passed away.

A former Dean of Post-Graduate School, University of Ilorin, Professor Lanre Badmas’ shocking demise occurred as announced on Friday January 30, 2026.

The DEFENDER reports that he passed away previously 11 days after the Chief Imam of Ilorin Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Solih’s of January 19, 2026.

It would be recalled that Professor Badmas was the Book Reviewer of recently launched “The Spiritual Orator”, the Biography of the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Ulama, who also died recently, authored by Dr. AbdulAzeez Arowona, who is Chief Executive Officer of Royal News and Emirate FM Radio Ilorin.

Aside being reviewer of the book, Professor Lanre Badmas also contributed immensely by writing the Forward for the 14-chapter book in which Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar’s tribute was conspicuous.

Media record shows that he recently commended the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for returning the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to the office of the Vice President.

The cause of death of the renowned Islamic scholar was yet to be known as at the time of filing this report, he it however gathered that he could not physically attend the book launch of “The Spiritual Orator” as he was represented by his son, an Associate Professor at the University of Ilorin, which suggested that he might have been sick recently before the final call to glory.
