Angers in North, Muslim Ummah! As NCEF say Onnoghen’s conviction is Jihad against Christians of Nigeria

By KEMI KASUMU

“What Asemota and his colleague Christian Elders have decided to use the Easter festive period to do now is pure declaration of war on the anti-corruption fight in the country and we say enough of it! That is what it means to mislead people into seeing a judiciary’s verdict against a corrupt former CJN in the light of ethno-religious hate.”

There are angers building up in particularly the Northern and Muslim communities of Nigeria as members call for immediate arrests of some Christian Elders, believed to be unrelenting in their collaborative efforts, with opposition-led coalition against the anti-corruption government of Muhammadu Buhari Administration to cause confusion in Nigeria.

This is coming on the hills of the National Christian Elders’ Forum (NCEF)’s reported description of the Thursday 18 April 2019 conviction of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) as part of “the jihad” against Christians in country.

This description by NCEF was as reported by Punch, a newspaper many such angry Nigerians believe is major tool for anti-Islamic/North crusade in the country.

The NCEF, membered also by the likes of TY Danjuma and Zamani Lekwot who pride themselves as Retired Christian Generals, claimed the development was a continuation of the “jihad that began with the overthrow of General Yakubu Gowon in 1975″.

The Chairman of the forum, Chief Solomon Asemota (SAN) , said this in a statement on Friday in response to an article titled , ‘What kind of elders’ published by a national newspaper.

He attributed the country’s under-development to the conflict between democracy and Sharia, adding that the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern regions had contributed to the problems of Nigeria, although he didn’t tell what role the “Retired Christian Generals” played in the problem before the coming in 2015 of the Fulani man in power who is locally and internationally believed to have put Nigeria on good foundation now.

Asemota said while proceeds from oil and gas in the South were shared by all Nigerians, “gold and other precious minerals in the North belong to the North alone to complete annexation of the South to the North”.

He added, “President Buhari in 1983 committed treason when he overthrew the Shehu Shagari government. This is in addition to the fact that he was one of the seven colonels who masterminded the overthrow of General Yakubu Gowon in 1975 .

“It was the same coup plotters that retired Chief Justice Elias, a Muslim but was a committed democrat, in order to Islamise Nigeria by replacing a Federal Republic with a Sultanate.

“Today, Justice Walter Onnoghen’s removal through stealth jihad of the executive is the continuation of the jihad that began with the overthrow of General Gowon in 1975.”

In the meantime, apparently angry Nigerians are saying that they are awaiting the next action President Buhari will take on leaders and members of NCEF based on the latest statement they described as clearly deliberate provocation of crisis despite much effort by government to stabilise the country and despite the bold decisions by over 15 million Nigerians re-electing Buhari to continue in office.

One of them under anonymity said, “When Nigerians complain that President Buhari is slow, this is one of the reasons. What other evidences do you need to nail a group of supposedly religious elders who, for long in collaboration with Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), have made frantic effort at collapsing this country through their heating up of the polity with their hate speeches, discord/division mongering, fake news/rumours and series of misinformation?

“Buhari, you just go ahead now, arrest Asemota and his cohorts in the NCEF and let us see who will blame you.  This is important because it has never happened in Nigeria that the Presidency of Nigeria is branded The Sultanate. Where did NCEF then see its replacement of Federal Republic of Nigeria with the Sultanate? It is misinformation that is punishable by law.

“NCEF leaders need to be arrested now also because, it is the way to tell the gangsters hiding under religion to cause national conflicts that enough is actually enough!

“What Asemota and his colleague Christian Elders have decided to use the Easter festive period to do now is pure declaration of war on the anti-corruption fight in the country and we say enough of it! That is what it means to mislead people into seeing a judiciary’s verdict against a corrupt former CJN in the light of ethno-religious hate.

“It is however a lesson to the likes of politicians that we have in opposition Peoples Democratic Party who are Hausa/Fulani and Muslims to now tell us if they are not part of the confusion these elements are drifting us to as they, hypocritically, keep silent while all the lies against their tribe and religion are let loose in the name of politics.”
