By OUR REPORTER, Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of the Chairman and Commissioners of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Among those appointed was Hon Jide Jimoh, the Kwara State indigene who had been made to serve as Member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Chairman Lagos Mainland Local Council and Member of the House of Representatives representing Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

Although well established as of North Central extractions, President Tinubu despite establishing the North Central indigeneship of Jide Jimoh has again appointed the man, whose appointment earlier as Member Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) using the rights of slot and opportunities of indigenes of Lagos/Ogun states zone, was abrumptly dropped following resistance by Retired Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju, a former Minister of Communications and a leader of Lagos State socio-cultural organisation, De Renaissance Patriots.

The Kwara State indigene will still be representing the same South West geo-political zone where he was asked to go to North Central and represent his people in the Commission, a development said to be the requirement of the Constitution and Federal Character Act intended to achieve cohesion, peace, unity and harmony of the Nigeria’s diversity.

Others appointed are: Engr. Emeka Ezeh,  Chairman; Hon. Ahmed Mohammed, North West; Chief Anthony Okeah, South-South;

Mohammed Magaji Ibrahim, North East; Miskoom Alexander Naantuam, North Central; and Barrister Martin Azubike, South East.

Similarly, the President also approved, to fill existing vacancies in some critical agencies of the FCTA, the appointments of Abdulkadir Zulkarfi, Coordinator Satellite Town Development Department; Chief Felix Obuah, Coordinator Abuja Metropolitan Management Council; and Oladiran Olufemi Akindele, Coordinator, Abuja Infrastructure Investment Council (AIIC).

Also, to strengthen the bureaucratic structure of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, President Tinubu equally approved the appointment of the Head of the Civil Service and Permanent Secretaries in the FCT Civil Service.

Thus, Mr. Atang Udo Samuel was appointed as the Head of the Civil Service of the FCT Civil Service Commission.

The new Permanent Secretaries are: Dr Adam Babagana, North East; Wanki Adamu, Ibrahim, North East; Asmau Mukhtar, North West; Dogo Aliyu Wadata Bodinga, North West; Olusa Olusegun, South West; Adetoyi Rabiu Kolawole, South West; Grace Adayilo, North Central; Olubunmi Olowookere, North Central; Ibe Prospect Chukwuemeka, South East; and Okonkwo Florence Nonubari, South South.

The appointments take immediate effect while the appointees would be sworn in on Monday, 18 March, 2024.

In the meantime, unnamed respondents have emphasised that all the appointments into the FCT Administration as following the requirements of law and Federal Character Act except where he appointed North Central indigene to usurp the constitutional rights – by indigeneship and Federal Character – of Jide Jimoh as FCT Commissioner and still made it public that he is representative of South West.

“If your political boys need to be compensated, go ahead and compensate them. No aspect of the law that I am aware of is breached by that. But where you want to compensate them and you bring them from their own states of indigeneship and make them infringe on the rights of other indigenes, it is not done except it will amount to constitutional breach. Go and compensate them with their own state and regional slots and opportunities

“Sadly, the president is committing all of these vital breaches and people who should se their loud voices to respectfully point his attention to them are failing in their duty to him because of their conspiracy of silence caused by senti ent of wanting to cover up being a Yoruba in power.

“I am sad at this attitude of my fellow Yoruba people because of implications and consequences of their actions of today in the future. If you see injustice done to other person today and fail to stand up against the injustice, when it becomes your turn to be unjustly treated tomorrow, you will find no one to help you against the injustice,” he said citing a scholar.
