AFCON 2021: Super Eagles fly to victory in Egypt start
Nigeria opened its 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a stunning 1-0 win over Egypt on Tuesday night.
The Super Eagles were in imperious form against the Pharaohs, who came into the tournament as top favourites.
Augustine Eguavoen’s men dominated the game from the referee’s whistle and took the lead in the half.
Joe Aribo’s header found Kelechi Iheanacho inside the box and he took two touches before volleying the ball in.
Nigeria missed a couple of chances to double their lead, especially, in the second half but are now top of Group D with three points.
Sudan and Guinea-Bissau play each other in the second Group D fixture for Tuesday.
