The police in Gwarinpa has arrested 18 people for allegedly constituting themselves into public nuisance in Kuchi Bena, an outskirt of Gwarinpa.
Police sources said the suspects were arrested at about midnight on Monday at a black spot in the area.
A source said policemen raided the place after intelligence reports discovered that the spot, a recreational centre, was populated by hoodlums.
Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nurudeen Sabo, confirmed the arrest. He said seven of the suspects who could not give satisfactory answer about their source of livelihood and purpose at the centre were being prosecuted while the others were released after investigation.
“We arrested 18 people and those that could give satisfactory answer to what they were doing there were released while we charged seven to court that couldn’t explain their means of livelihood and why they were there,” he said.
