ZSUBEB awards contract worth billions to enhance education in Zamfara State

Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB) recently held a formal presentation ceremony for the award of contracts to deserving beneficiaries.

The event, which took place at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Gusau, Zamfara State, was attended by dignitaries including His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, and other top government officials.

During the ceremony, Prof. Nasiru Garba Anka, the Executive Chairman of ZSUBEB, announced that the board had received a total sum of 6,309,237,105.35 Naira as a BESDA Reward for the year 2023.

Additionally, the Matching Grant from UBEC/SUBEB for the 1st to 4th Quarters, including contributions from the state governmentunder the leadership of Governor Dauda lawal, amounted to 2,791,569,918.25 Naira.

Prof Anka added that,Looking ahead to 2024, ZSUBEB has been allocated a Matching Grant from UBEC of 3,554,642,584.46 Naira, which will be matched equally by the State Government under the leadership of Governor Dauda lawal .This brings the total Matching Grant for 2024 to an impressive 7,109,285,168.92 Naira. These funds are aimed at furthering initiatives to enhance the standard of education across Zamfara State.

Prof. Nasiru Garba Anka also highlighted the achievements of ZSUBEB in the Teachers Management Information System (TMIS), where the board was recognized as 2nd nationwide and first in Northern Nigeria for the gifted student examination. This recognition demonstrates the significant progress made in improving educational quality and management in the state.

Prof Anka ddd that in terms of infrastructure projects, ZSUBEB plans to construct 14 blocks of VIP toilets, 6 playrooms for Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), 4 blocks with two classrooms, offices, and stores, 1 safe school, 13 blocks with three classrooms, offices, and stores, and 8 perimeter wall fences. Renovations are also scheduled for various blocks and facilities across the state.

He said,the commitment and dedication of the Zamfara State government, under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, towards improving education in the state were acknowledged at the ceremony. The investment in educational infrastructure and initiatives is expected to have a positive impact on the quality of education and facilities in Zamfara States.

Prof. Anka thanked all the distinguished guests, including the Executive Governor, Deputy Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Commissioners, and Special Advisers, as well as the press and other attendees for their support and dedication. He reiterated the board’s commitment to working towards further improving education in Zamfara State and called for continued cooperation from all stakeholders in achieving this goal.

During the ceremony,Governor Dauda lawal lead the presentation of the certificate of contract to some indigenous contractors across the fourteen local government in the state.
