Sultan arrives Oyo, received by Deputy Governor
The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman, National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has arrived Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.
A report published earlier by The DEFENDER stated that the Sultan was on two-day working visit to the ancient as special guest for the coronation and presentation of staff of office to the new Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, holding on Friday July 12, 2024.
It will be recalled that Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde had on Wednesday spiced the occasion with the commissioning of an ultra-modern palace, making Oba Olakulehin the first Olubadan in history to occupy the new palace said to be structured after the BuckinghamPalacein the United Kingdom.
To show their rather sponstaneus respect and love fot their respect for traditional institution and the office of Sultan of Sokoto, who essentially is the Leader of over 150 million of Nigeria, Governor Makinde, and his Deputy Governor, Barrister Ibrahim Adebayo Lawal, ensured that they weon ground in the state to give occupant of the Usmaniyyah throne of Sokoto Caliphate the befitting welcome that he deserves.
The Oyo State Deputy Governor was physically on ground at the Ibadan Airport awaiting arrival of the Sultan.
The plane that brought the Sultan took off from the Sultan Abubakar International Airport Sokoto at around 2:30pm and touched the ground at around 3:30pm at Ibadan.
He alighted into the warm arms of the Deputy Governor, Barrister Ibrahim Adebayo Lawal, who officially received the Sultan and rode with the august visitor to his lodge.
Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, in a statement by his Media Team on Wednesday July 10, 2024, had congratulated the new Olubadan while also applauding the Ibadan people for their successful achievement of personality like Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as their traditional ruler.
According to the statement reported by The DEFENDER, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, who is also President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic (NSCIA), noted that Ibadan, as a strategically self-regulated kingdom of historical warriors yet very hospitable people, requires in its sequence successive royal leadership to keep its tempo of growth and development, hence his conviction that Oba Olakulehin is the one fitted to the throne at this time.
He applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his continued respect for traditional institution thus ensuring that any action that his government would take on same must be one that is devoid of doubt and capable of winning the hearts of the people as traditions demand.
In a statement released by Media Team of the Sultan on Wednesday July 10, 2024, he saluted the good people of Ibadan Land on the coronation of their new Oba, while reiterating his commitment to use his chairmanship of the National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria co-chaired by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan, to continue to mobilise for peace, unity, harmony and progress among all Nigerians across the various religious and ethnic backgrounds.
To the new Olubadan, “On behalf of myself, the Usmaniyyah Throne of Sokoto Caliphate and all Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, I wish you a healthy and very impactful reign in life,” the Sultan prayed.
