Digital Publishers of Nigeria launched, chooses Arowona as President

“I appreciate the honour and the privilege of becoming the pioneer servant of this association and I hereby dedicate this honour to His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin,” Arowona said.
The Digital Publishers of Nigeria (DPN), an association of online media organisations practicing true and patriotic journalism in Africa’s most populous country, has finally birthed.
During the its maiden meeting and launch on Sunday, Alhaji Abdulazeez Arowona, the publisher of Royal News, was picked to steer the ship of DPN as pioneer President.
Arowona was unanimously selected by all the members who attended the meeting.
The Royal News publisher, an indigene of Ilorin, was generally agreed upon to lead the association based on his pedigree, exposure and experience both in his chosen career and otherwise.
At the virtual forum, three other members of the association, namely Alhaji Bashir Adefaka, publisher of The DEFENDER Newspaper, Alhaji Abdallah el-Kurebe, publisher of AsheNews and Mallam Marufh Bello, CEO/E-in-C of City Hill News were also nominated as Secretary General, Financial Secretary and Publicity Secretary of the association respectively as key officers.
Arowona, an experienced journalist, public affairs analyst and media consultant, in his acceptance speech, thanked all the members for their decision to choose him out of their belief in him to lead the association, while seeking the cooperation and support of every member of the association.
In his words, Arowona, who has travelled far and wide, says, “Today marks another milestone in our lives as media practitioners, public relations consultants, distinguished Nigerians and publishers of reputable digital newspapers.
“I’m, therefore, glad that we’ve gone this far to put ourselves under the umbrella of Digital Publishers of Nigeria (DPN) through the painstaking efforts of Prince Bashir Adefaka, a respected brother and colleague, and others.
“We all have significant roles to play in ensuring that DPN performs its expected roles in the Nigerian Media space.”

Arowona otherwise known as Sardauna holds B.Sc in Political Science, M.Sc in Peace & Conflict Studies, Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism, Masters Class Certificate in Business Management and Leadership of London Graduate School.
The association, however, resolved at the meeting to change the leadership of the association every two years.
