Edo Govt dismisses fake news against Obaseki
The Government of Edo State, South South Nigeria, on Friday, busted yet another fake news peddled around titled, “Gov Obaseki renames Oshiomole’s Street after Saraki”.
Although the report has failed to fly, some external believers of the current administration sitting in Benin demanded clarification to clear their confusion.
In a prompt response to an enquiry by The DEFENDER, SA Media to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Benjamen Attu, simply dismissed the report not only as non-issue but also as one for which the busy government of Edo would not have the time for.
For his respect for this online newspaper, however, Attu gave an exclusive reaction to clear the doubt of naysayers and strengthen the confidence of lovers of the government within and outside Edo State.
The report said “The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has renamed Oshiomole’s Street after Saraki. From Oshiomole’s Crescent to Bukola Saraki’s Boulevard, Auchi.”
But the Deputy Governor’s Spokesman said: “Governor Obaseki has better things to do with his time than to get himself involved with such petty issues.
“For your information it is the duty of Local Government to name street and rename street if such need arise.
“Any person or group of persons accusing the Governor of performing the function of Local Government has joined the bang wagon who says things not because it is true but to seek for favour and attention.
“They are information that don’t need to be verified and this is one of such because it is baseless,” he said.
