Evacuation: Nigerian woman delivers baby aboard Emirates fight

A Nigerian lady, Mrs Kafayat Amusan, one of the stranded Nigeria travellers, returning from Dubai, United Arab Emirate (UAE), was during the week delivered of a baby boy on board Emirates flight departing to Lagos precisely on Wednesday May 6, 2020.
She put to bed, on board the plane, 30 minutes after departure, which resulted in the plane returning back to Dubai after take-off.

She is currently on admission at a Hospital, in Dubai, Head, Media and Public Relations of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, said in a statement he sent to The DEFENDER same day.
The Nigerian Ambassador to the UAE, Ambassador Mohammed Dansanta Rimi, and staff of the Embassy are in touch with the mother and child who, according to Balogun, are in good condition.
Emirates Airline had to change to another aircraft and then set for the scheduled fight enroute Lagos with 265 returnees on board.
In the meantime, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, congratulated Mrs Amusan for another addition in her family and prayed she returns safely to the country.
Dabiri-Erewa said Amusan would return to Nigeria after obtaining birth certificate and other necessary travel documents for her baby boy.
