Trump didn’t snub Buhari, Presidency replies Fayose

The Presidency on Thursday said that it was not true that American President-elect Donald Trump snubbed President Muhammadu Buhari by not inviting him to his inauguration holding Friday.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said this in a statement he posted on his Facebook page.

Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose had claimed that the fact that Trump did not extend invitation to Buhari indicates that he (Buhari) has lost international relevance.

But Buhari’s spokesman described the claim as falsehood, saying the United States does not invite heads of state or presidents to its inauguration.

“Gentlemen, I think we should respond to refute this falsehood. The US does not invite Heads of State or President to the inauguration of its Presidents. Our president could therefore not have been snubbed,” Shehu wrote.
