“As far as I am concerned, whether the people around him are corrupt or the people in the opposition are supportive of him or not, President Buhari has started the good work of changing Nigeria for better. He is doing it well. He says he will continue to do it and I pray that Allah will strengthen him to be able to continue to do and complete the good work that he has started,” the fearless Markaz Salam cleric said.
Leader of Markaz Salam, Ojokoro, Lagos, Sheikh Moshood Jubril Ramadan, on Sunday, called on Muslims and Christians of Nigeria to embark on true repentance saying only that would bring effective change to the country.
Speaking at the house warming prayer ceremony of a Lagos-based business man, Alhaji Fatai Adeola, in Ijoko, Ogun State, the Islamic scholar said Nigeria’s recession dragged till now because corrupt people who he said were either Muslims or Christians refused to be faithful to God and fear Him deep down in their hearts, characters and actions.
He added that they were the same people who did not want Nigeria to change from bad to good and who were frustrating government effort to change the country from state of evil to society of righteous people.
Describing President Muhammadu Buhari as a great, sincere and truly God fearing leader, who meant well and had started off on a good note to effect change in the country, Sheikh Ramadan said, “President Buhari has sound and sincere intention to change Nigeria for better” but that even some of the people around were not desirous of making him succeed.
He said if any Nigerian wanted better life for himself, he should retrace his step back to the change and anti-corruption programme of the President and play his own positive role for the programme to succeed.
“Nigeria had been damaged beyond pardon, economically and corruptly that things became so bad and difficult for everybody before the current government came. The people that caused this are either Muslims or Christians. Buhari said he wanted to do it but these same people don’t want him to succeed. Many of us Muslim and Christian clerics don’t tell the politicians the truth because of the fear of losing what they use to get from those corrupt politicians. What does any politician want to give me that will be up to what the Lord that controls his life is capable of giving to me?
