Anti-Corruption group disagrees with Presidency on need to slow down early campaign for Buhari’s 2nd term

*Says it will be difficult to stop in view of heavy plots by looters

The move by anyone including President Muhammadu Buhari to persuade Nigerians most especially the masses to wait for the campaign time or slow down the ongoing campaign for his second term bid may be extremely difficult if not impossible, Battles Against Corruption in Nigeria Group (BACN) has said.

The group said it was going to be difficult to stop the campaign because, according to its President Waheed Seriki, it is not President Buhari Nigerians are campaigning for but that they are campaigning for the ongoing infrastructure and economic development happening all over the country to continue under the Buhari’s Administration.

Speaking in a message to TheDEFENDER on Monday, the Ontario, Canada-based anti-corruption group said Nigerians have seen the good work President Buhari has done and want him to continue.

BACN spoke just as a group concerned citizens at a meeting in Ogun State, South Western Nigeria, said that, “President Buhari will be doing Nigerians great damages if he fails to cut all the agents of blood and looting in the country to sizes and get back to seat and continue with the good job he has started.”

An economist, Mr. Wale Ogunyemi, made this known at the meeting covered by The DEFENDER.

In his message, the Battles Against Corruption in Nigeria Group (BACN) said: “Nigerians see in Buhari the kind of person that can direct and manage the affairs of the country to promised land and give hope to the hopeless who have already lost faith in Nigeria as a nation.

“President Muhammadu Buhari just happens to be the beneficiary of the ongoing campaign in  favour of his second term bid for the number one office in Nigeria because, he puts smile into the face of millions of Nigerians by rekindling the hope of the hopeless citizens, who already see themselves as wasted generation during the 16 years of PDP administration under the leadership of ex-President of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

“No effort can be made by anyone to slow down the campaign for Buhari’s second term in office because Nigerians, most especially the masses were afraid of going back to 16 years of People Democratic Party rule of disaster which almost collapsed the country.

“It is the love Nigerians have for their country that makes them to jump out and start drawing support for Buhari’s continuation in office without waiting for INEC to ring the campaign bell not because of President Buhari himself.

“Nigerians see President Buhari as God-sent messiah that came to bring back the Nigerian glory already taken away by the PDP.  They see in Buhari the  president that will restore their hope and aspiration of Nigeria of their dream.

“It is too late for President Muhammadu Buhari to advice Nigerians, most especially supporter groups to slow down their efforts towards ensuring he rules the country till 2023 because Nigerians are very scared to lose the gain of democracy they have witnessed during the three years of Buhari’s administration.

“Nigerians believe that the delay in campaign for  Buhari’s continuation in office  may be dangerous and disastrous for the country because the powers behind the looters and their allies are very callous, wicked, dangerous and they have ill-gotten wealth to prevent Muhammadu Buhari’s second term bid for president.

“The only weapon the masses of Nigerians have to end corruption in Nigeria is to start early campaign of President Buhari’s second term as president and to use their PVC to fight criminals in Nigerian political system.

“To advice Nigerians to slow down Muhammdu Buhari’s second term campaign is already late because Nigerians have tasted the sweetness of democracy in his three years of rule and they are not ready to lose it.

“Rather, Nigerians want the gain and the joy of democracy to continue under the leadership of Buhari to continue because they see in him as incorruptible, upright, honest and discipline man that will leads them to promise land.
