Invite Sunday Igboho to reveal what he knows about Oyo students’ abductors, Atiku’s Aide tells DSS

Ibe accused the Federal Government of remaining silent over the Borno incident and queried when similar attention given to the Oriire case would be extended to victims in the North-East.

Mr. Paul Ibe, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has urged the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to invite Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, to reveal the identities of politicians he claimed were behind the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Ibe made the call in a post on his X handle on Thursday, June 4, 2026, stating that if Igboho possesses credible information about those responsible for the abduction, security agencies should engage him to assist in efforts to secure the victims’ safe release.

The DEFENDER reports that Igboho, while hosting members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at his residence in Ibadan, had alleged that he knew politicians linked to the abductions and warned that he would publicly name them if the incidents did not stop.

Reacting to the claim, Ibe said all available measures should be considered to fast-track the rescue of the abducted students and teachers.
He also questioned the response of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to the reported abduction of more than 50 schoolchildren in Mussa, Borno State, on May 15, 2026.

Ibe accused the Federal Government of remaining silent over the Borno incident and queried when similar attention given to the Oriire case would be extended to victims in the North-East.

In his statement, Ibe said, “Since Sunday Igboho claims to know those behind the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State, I think that the State Security Service (SSS) and other security agencies need to invite him to release those names to them.

“Every option should be on the table to fast-track the safe release of the schoolchildren and teachers.

“By the way, who knows those behind the abduction of over 50 schoolchildren in Mussa, Borno State on May 15, 2026?

“Why is Tinubu and his government mute over the Borno abduction? Are those schoolchildren not Nigerians? When will the Commander-in-Chief send a delegation to Mussa like it did in the case of Oriire?

“When will Borno and other vulnerable states get their own forest guards? Why wait for a tragedy before the government takes decisive action to address insecurity in the country?”
