“Elected in Lagos but Samuel Adedayo works for Kwara in Abuja”, Group wants Apapa Rep probed

By KEMI KASUMU

The group accused the legislator of betraying his electoral mandate, citing claims that he sponsored and facilitated the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State

A civic organisation, the Lagos Advocacy Group (LAG), has called for sanctions, investigation, and recall proceedings against a federal lawmaker representing Apapa Constituency Federal Constituency, Samuel Adesola Adedayo, over allegations of abuse of office and diversion of constituency resources.

He is physically elected Lagos Federal Lawmaker but working for Kwara State in Abuja, Group raises alarm over Apapa Rep

In a statement issued in Lagos and dated March 23, 2026, the group accused the legislator of betraying his electoral mandate, citing claims that he sponsored and facilitated the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State—reportedly linked to his origin—rather than prioritising infrastructure needs within his Lagos-based constituency.

The organisation described the alleged action as a misplacement of legislative priorities and a violation of representative responsibility, particularly as residents of Apapa continue to face healthcare and infrastructure challenges.

LAG also raised concerns over what it described as a pattern of legislative neglect, alleging that the lawmaker has failed to adequately advocate for constituency interests at the National Assembly. Additional claims included the diversion of constituency project funds and mismanagement of palliative materials intended for residents.

The group further alleged intimidation of critics and internal party members who questioned the lawmaker’s actions.

As part of its demands, the organisation called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Lagos State to initiate disciplinary proceedings.

It also urged constituents to begin recall processes and called for investigations by anti-corruption agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The group appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu to intervene, warning that failure to act could erode public trust in governance.

There has been no official response from the lawmaker to the allegations.

Lagos, Nigeria – March 23, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A STRIDENT DEMAND FOR IMMEDIATE SANCTIONS, INVESTIGATION, AND RECALL PROCEEDINGS AGAINST HON. (DR.) SAMUEL ADESOLA ADEDAYO FOR GROSS ABUSE OF OFFICE, BETRAYAL OF ELECTORAL MANDATE, AND DIVERSION OF CONSTITUENCY PROJECTS

The Lagos Advocacy Group (LAG), a socio-political and non-partisan civic organisation representing the collective interests of indigenous Lagosians across Epe, Badagry, Lagos Division, Ikeja, and Ikorodu, is compelled—by the weight of incontrovertible facts and overwhelming public concern—to issue this stern and unequivocal statement.

We state, without equivocation, that the conduct attributed to Hon. (Dr.) Samuel Adesola Adedayo, Member representing Apapa Federal Constituency, constitutes nothing short of a brazen abuse of office, a flagrant betrayal of democratic trust, and a calculated subversion of the very mandate upon which his office rests.

Available and credible reports reveal that Hon. Adedayo not only sponsored, but actively championed and secured the passage of a Bill establishing a Federal Medical Centre in Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State—his alleged place of origin—while the constituency that elected him remains in dire and pressing need of such critical infrastructure.

This is not merely inappropriate—it is indefensible, unconscionable, and constitutionally reprehensible.

An elected representative is not at liberty to convert public office into a vehicle for parochial advancement or personal geographical loyalties. Such conduct amounts to a deliberate diversion of legislative privilege for extraneous benefit, and a reckless abandonment of the people of Apapa Federal Constituency.

Even more disturbing is the emerging pattern of legislative indifference and calculated neglect, as reports persist that Hon. Adedayo has failed, refused, or neglected to meaningfully advocate for Apapa Constituency on the floor of the House of Representatives, despite continuing to enjoy the full privileges of that office.

The siting of a federal institution in Kwara State under the sponsorship of a Lagos-based legislator is a glaring misplacement of priorities and a direct assault on the principles of representative democracy.

At a time when Apapa residents continue to endure deplorable healthcare conditions, infrastructural decay, and economic hardship, this conduct is nothing short of cruel, insensitive, and politically immoral.

Furthermore, grave allegations have surfaced regarding the diversion of constituency project funds and interventions to Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State, thereby depriving Apapa constituents of their rightful share of federal presence and development. This is a matter that strikes at the very heart of public accountability.

Equally scandalous are reports of the misappropriation and opaque distribution of palliative materials, including food items and agricultural inputs meant to cushion the hardship of constituents. If proven, this would amount to economic sabotage against the very people he was elected to serve.

Rather than provide credible explanations, Hon. Adedayo is alleged to have resorted to intimidation, threats, and political coercion, targeting concerned stakeholders and party members who dared to question his actions. Such conduct is tyrannical, undemocratic, and wholly unacceptable in a constitutional democracy.

There are also disturbing claims of victimisation of party faithful, including the denial of legitimate entitlements, allegedly linked to the diversion and mismanagement of constituency resources.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Lagos Advocacy Group asserts that public office is a sacred trust—not a personal estate to be exploited, nor a platform for geographical favoritism.

OUR NON-NEGOTIABLE DEMANDS

In view of the foregoing, we issue the following demands, which we consider immediate, necessary, and non-negotiable:
1. Immediate commencement of disciplinary proceedings by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State against Hon. Adedayo for gross misconduct, abuse of office, and anti-party conduct.
2. Activation of constitutional recall mechanisms by the relevant authorities and constituents of Apapa Federal Constituency, on grounds of manifest incompetence, abandonment of duty, and betrayal of mandate.
3. Urgent referral to anti-corruption agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), for a comprehensive investigation into:
• The utilisation of constituency allocations;
• The alleged diversion of projects and funds;
• The handling and distribution of palliative materials.

We further call on President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as well as all responsible leaders within the APC, to intervene decisively and without delay to prevent further erosion of public confidence in governance and party integrity.

History is replete with examples of leaders who, despite diverse origins, upheld the sanctity of their mandate. The conduct presently in question stands in stark and embarrassing contrast to those standards.

FINAL WORD

Let it be clearly stated: the people of Apapa are not expendable, and their mandate is not transferable.

Democracy cannot—and will not—survive where elected officials act with impunity, shielded by silence and emboldened by inaction.

The Lagos Advocacy Group will not hesitate to pursue all lawful avenues to ensure accountability, including civic mobilisation, legal action, and sustained public advocacy.

Enough is enough.

Signed:
Lagos Advocacy Group (LAG)
