Parents cry out as NYSC corps members got kidnapped in Kogi

By SUMAYYAH ADEFAKA
Families of the 2026 batch of newly selected corps members have raised concerns after their children were reportedly kidnapped while traveling to the NYSC orientation camp in Kogi State.
According to a relative, the corps member spoke to the family upon entering the state, but after a few hours, she stopped responding to calls.
Later, the family received confirmation from an unknown individual that she had been abducted.
The kidnappers are reportedly demanding a ransom for her release providing them with bank details for the transaction.
The families are appealing for the urgent intervention of government authorities to secure the safe release of their children.
It is important to note that, prior to this incident, parents and guardians had expressed growing concern about the safety of corps members, particularly following recent relocations of NYSC camps to areas considered high-risk.
