“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve.”
The Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, has resigned from the government of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf following the governor’s dumping of the party, New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP’) and political ideological group, the Kwankwasiyyah Movement, that gave him platform and fought for his electoral victory against all odds in 2023 governorship election.
Mustapha, son of the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, announced his decision in a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Monday, saying he was stepping down as a member of the State Executive Council.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and member of the Kano State Executive Council,” he stated.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State.
“I have cherished the experiences and lessons gained while serving, and I appreciate the trust placed in me,” he said.
The former commissioner also urged the state government to sustain investments in youth empowerment and sports development, stressing that the sectors deserved continuous attention.
“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve.
“I hope for the best for our sports development programmes and initiatives, and I am confident that they will flourish in the years to come,” he added.
Kwankwaso concluded by offering prayers for the state and its leadership.
“May Allah (SWT) continue to shower His blessings on our beloved Kano State. I wish the government and people of Kano State all the best,” he said.
His resignation is coming amid reported political shifts within the Kano State Government following Governor Yusuf’s recent exit from the NNPP.
