The DEFENDER reports that the world Muslim body, a member of the United Nations, performed the handing over of these yet another laudable projects in Ashade Atekun village, Ilogbo-Emeri, Oko Afo area of Badagry Local Government, Lagos State on Saturday May 24, 2025.

Alhaji Ahmad Bello Morogun, donor of land for Fatima Saleh Al Mahlem Centre, Middle, during the commissioning ceremony performed by WAMY in Ilogbo-Emeri, Oko Afo, Badagry, Lagos State, on Saturday May 24, 2025.

The day after, it commissioned the Fatima Saleh Al Mahlem Centre consisting of a 100-meter long school, 100-meter long mosque and a shopping centre all with a borehole facility at the instance of one Mr. Yusuf Mahruf Adebayo in the Badagry, Lagos State area.

They were handed over at a ceremony attended by both the donor of the projects, Sulaiman Bin Fahleh, who travelled down from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to grace the occasion, and donor of the land, Alhaji Ahmad Bello Morogun, who flew into Nigeria from Abidjan, Code ‘Ivoire, to grace the occasion.

Dr. Aminu Ibrahim, Director Morkaz Nahim Islamic Centre, Kano, during the commissioning ceremony of Fatima Saleh Al Mahlem Centre, in Ilogbo-Emeri, Oko Afo, Badagry, Lagos State, on Saturday May 24, 2025.

In his remarks, the Saudi Arabian donor said the projects were sadaqatun jariyyah done in the memory of his late mother, Fatima Saleh Al-Mahlem, so that all the rewards of the good work would continuously go to meet her in her grave.

Speaking in Arabic, Bin Fahleh said, “First and foremost, I am happy to find myself in this gathering of great people and for being able to take from what Allah has provided for me and spend it on his path in building a befitting mosque for the Muslim Ummah. When there is a mosque, it makes worship of Allah easier.

“For this reason, I did not just build the mosque but with borehole facility so for the ease of worshippers and so they do not have to go through difficult times over issue of water. I also built a school beside the mosque for people to obtain education across board. And education in Islam transcends just obtaining the knowledge of Arabic, Qur’an but also of science, among others so that knowledge will spread and the society will be free from dangers of ignorance.

“The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said when a man dies, nothing is left with him except three: sadaqatun jariyyah that is alms giving that endures like this mosque. For as long as people worship in it, the rewards go to meet him in his grave. If people come to learn Qur’an in this school, the rewards go to him. Secondly, a virtuous child he leaves behind who prays for him, the prayers will go to meet him in his grave and thirdly, the knowledge he has impacted in people, for as long as that knowledge is put to use and spreads and the society benefits from it, the rewards go to meet him in his grave.”

The Saudi donor concluded his remarks with a challenge to both the management of the centre and the users over appropriate use and maintenance of the mosque and school as, according to him, “the part that is required of me in trust is the construction and handing over of the projects that I have done today. If you use this centre well, more will come unto you inshallah.”

In his remarks, Abidjan, Code ‘Ivoire-based Alhaji Ahmad Bello Morogun said although he became circumstantial to providing the land used for the projects, all adoration should be directed to Almighty Allah for directing his mind to do the good work that is divinely rewardable.

He explained further to The DEFENDER that, “The land was purchased by my late mother, Alhaja Morogun, who was a very committed Muslim woman and had wanted to use the land for similar purpose during her life. However, she was yet to achieve it when death came calling and when I heard that some other persons wanted to do similar things, it became easier for me release the land to them.

“That was what happened when I was informed that WAMY from Saudi Arabia was bringing these kind of laudable projects to Nigeria and to this Ilogbo-Emeri and that a land is needed to accommodate them, it quickly occurred to me to release the land for them. That is what we have done,” he said.

Others who either attended or spoke at the event included the Nigeria Director of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), Isham Mohammed, Chief Accountant of WAMY Nigeria Office, Alhaji Hussein Abubakar, Markaz Islamic Institute Agege, Lagos official and Chairman PTA of WAMY International School, Ojodu, Dr. Tajudeen Ahmad Rufai, the Baale of Ashade Atekun village, Ilogbo-Emeri, Badagry, Lagos State, Chief Sikiru Odunlami, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim, Director of Markaz Nahim Islamic Centre, Kano State, North West Nigeria, and the Chief Imam of Ogun State Police Command Muslim Community, CSP (Imam) Omikunle Wahid, among others.

Specifically, the Ogun State Police Command Chief Imam, CSP Imam Omikunle Wahid, who spoke in mostly Arabic, first seized opportunity of the microphone to again appreciate WAMY’s leadership for the similar gesture of Noor Al Huda Centre of four projects namely an ultra-modern mosque, Arabic school, health centre and Imam’s quarters as well as borehole they also built and handed over to the Command in Abeokuta the day before.

He extended his appreciation to the donor of Fatima Saleh Al Mahlem Centre of three projects of mosque, school and borehole now also being handed over to the beneficiary, Yusuf Mahruf Adebayo, who is principal of WAMY International School Ojodu, at the Badagry location.

The police Imam charged well to do Muslims to strive further from merely spending money in building mosques, sending people to Hajj to essentially training their own children, noting that more of people in prison in a certain area of survey was said to be Muslims by names because “Muslims are those who bear more children, which is good according to the word of Holy Prophet Muhammad pbuh, but who do not train their children.”

Condemning that, he said he that really wants to practice the traditions of the prophet must train his children because, he said, it is the act of Islam that acquiring knowledge is obligatory for Muslim man and woman from the cradle to the grave, even if it has to be sought to far away China.

Speaking to journalists, WAMY Director Isham Mohammed said, “We are here today to launch a masjid 100 meters, school 100 meters and shopping centre 100 meters with a borehole. Alhamdulillahi we have finished and we are here today to hand over to the Muslim Ummah via Mallam Yusuf Adebayo, who will be the head of the centre, inshallah.

“World Assembly of Muslim Youth has a lot of projects like you are seeing here to help the community and the society for making knowledge acquisition easy because, like this centre, we are not only teaching Qur’an, Hadeeth and Fiqh but we also teach science education to children. Alhamdulillahi among products of such centres we have done are so many people that have graduated even from the universities.

“We are very effective. If we built the centre like this, we select the people that will manage it like Mr. Yusuf is part of WAMY and he knows the system of WAMY. We pray next time we come for graduation inshallah.”
