ROYALTY: Retired Police Commissioner, Macaulay Ovbagbedia, elected as new Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, Delta

A former Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Macaulay Ovbagbedia, has been traditionally picked as the Ohworode-elect of the revered throne of the ancient Olomu Kingdom in Delta State.

Ovbagbedia, who was until now the Otota (traditional prime minister), will becomes the 13th Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom. He is best described as the custodian of the Olomu tradition and had been envisioned as the monarch of the ancient Urhobo kingdom.

According to a statement signed by Olorogun Albert Akpomudje, SAN, the Akpile of Olomu, for the coronation committee, disclosed that the retired police officer will be crowned as the new Ohworode on Saturday, May 20 at Adjefia Hall, Agbon-Olomu, the traditional headquarters of the kingdom.

The statement said “the coronation committee of the Owhorode of Olomu Kingdom, following the demise of HRM Richard Layeguen Ogbon, specially invites sons, daughters and friends of the kingdom to the coronation ceremony of HRM Macaulay Ovbagbedia, as the new Ohworode of Olomu”.
