7 Air Force officers killed in Abuja military plane crash buried

*Nigeria, armed forces pay respect

The remains of seven Nigerian Air Force officers and personnel, who lost their lives in last Sunday’s Beechcraft King Air B359i crash, have been laid to rest.

They were buried Thursday 25 February 2021 at the National Cemetery, Lugbe, Airport Road, Abuja.

*SOBERING: Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Ishaq Oladapo Amao, sympathises with families of the fallen air officers during the ceremony.

It will be recalled that The DEFENDER reported the unfortunate military aircraft crash last Sunday 20 February, 2021 and that all seven officers on board the ill-fated flight were killed as a result.

The victims, who were buried Thursday, were named; Flight Lt Haruna Gadzama, Flight Lt. Henry Piyo, Flying Officer Michael Okpara, Warrant Officer Basset Etim, Flight Sgt. Olasunkanmi Olawunmi, Sgt Ugochukwu Oluka and Aircraftman Adewale Johnson.

Dignitaries repr denting Federal and state governments at the ceremony included Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (Rtd), Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Paulen Tallen among others.

Also in attendance were the service chiefs namely; the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Zubairu Gambo and Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Oladayo Amao.
