30 opposition leaders decamp to NNPP in Kano, received by Gov Yusuf

Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Tuesday, received 30 members of opposition parties, who decamped to the ruling New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) after dumping their political platforms.

The decampees include top ranking members, who contested various elective positions in 2023 general elections in Kano under the platforms of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and National Rescue Movement (NRM).

A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the former opposition members were warmly embraced and ushered into the NNPP at a special occasion held at Africa House, Government House, Kano.

In their seperate declarations, leaders of the two opposition parties revealed their decisions to join the ruling NNPP was informed by Governor Yusuf’s sincere intention to build a viable society.

Malam Shehu Nuhu, one of the leaders, said that he was convinced by the government’s laudable projects especially in health and education sectors, a major consideration to return to NNPP.

While receiving the decampees, Governor Abba Yusuf commended the decision and conviction to admit the truth amid political gimmick being spread by opposition parties.

He reminded that the NNPP administration would sustain unwavering commitment to socio-economic development especially across all critical sectors of the economy.

“What we are doing is nothing other than implementing our party’s manifesto, Kwankwasiyya ideology and our blueprint. Be rest assured that you will be carried along in the NNPP’s affairs and policies and programmes of the present administration for the overall development of Kano,” the Governor assured.
