2023: Pastor Umo Eno, PDP candidate to beat in Akwa Ibom, as PDP, APC set for governorship elections in Nigeria
*Same with Sa’idu Umar PDP in Sokoto, Uba Sani APC in Kaduna
By OUR REPORTER
The coming 2023 general elections in Nigeria has been described as an exercise that will provide yet another season of shame for prophets of doom as not only that it will be clearly a process to be keenly administered by Nigerians but also that the winners will be those that Nigerians will more satisfactorily desire.
Our source on Saturday, who particularly told of three states where the candidates to beat are clearly going to be more deserving of their victory, mentioned Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, who recently was Commissioner for Lands in Akwa Ibom until he emerged the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the recently conducted party primary election in the state.
The other two mentioned are Uba Sani, who was Senator of the Federal Republic from Kaduna State and whose name will be on the ballot for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, while the erudite banker, Alhaji Sa’idu Umar, the PDP Governorship Candidate of Sokoto State will be having his twinkling star working for him at the poll as Nigerians go to poll in eight months time to decide their governor for another four years beginning from May 29, 2023.
The DEFENDER notes that although the governorship primaries of both PDP and APC for 2023 were concluded with some old guards and new faces, of which Eno features prominently, the man of God with no record of spirit impersonating God and excellent entrepreneur with sense of responsibility, by any standard, is not a stranger in administration not even of Akwa Ibom State and so has been well positioned for the show that many have said will end in the affirmative.
“It is no wonder, when the challenge of who a successor capable of being handed a beautiful, peaceful state like Akwa Ibom to became an issue, Governor Emmanuel Udom did not mince words to say “the man I want to succeed me is my Commissioner for Lands, Umo Bassey Eno”. He called a meeting of the stakeholders and broke the news to them yet there was no single person with reservation of any kind in their warm receptiveness to the wish of the governor. This is indicator only to the fact that Pastor Eno is fantastically deserving of the new status,” an Abuja source told The DEFENDER during the week.
Eno, a holder of Nationwide Productivity Award (FNCHI), married to Pastor Patience Eno with six good children and a grandson that are the fruits of their marriage. He is a successful businessman and a Christian spiritual leader. His career began in 1982 when he worked with the Union Bank of Nigeria and later, with Bertola Machine Tools from 1985 to 1990.
In 1990, he worked with Norman Holdings Limited where he served as the Group General Manager and left in 1997 to found the Royal Group Company – a company dedicated to covering hospitality, information and communication technology (ICT), as well as manufacturing, oil and gas sectors.
As a spiritual leader, Pastor Umo Eno serves as the General Overseer of All Actions Christian Ministry Int’l.
From 2004 to 2007, Pastor Umo Eno worked in various positions such as holding the position of the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom Hotels and Tourism Board.
Besides running his enterprise, Umo Eno is a two-time Paul Haris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Eket District 9140.
Also, he was until recently the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources in Akwa Ibom State, South South Nigeria.
