He says Zamfara State has only one Assembly where elected lawmakers were authorized to hold their sittings in the interest of good people of the state.

Speaker Bilyaminu Moriki disclosed this to newsmen in his office in the Assembly Complex in Gusau, while reacting to formation of purportedly parallel Assembly by 10 suspended members.

“We don’t have faction in Zamfara Assembly, those that held illegal sitting recently are not lawmakers hence the sitting was not held in the recognized chamber of the House of assembly and all their decisions are invalid,” Moriki reiterated.

The speaker further said that “the seat of one of the nine members of the Gummi camp has been declared vacant by the House some time ago. Therefore, he is no longer an elected representative of any Constituency”.

The speaker said issue of the suspended lawmakers is still in court and that the court said that status quo should be maintained pending its determination.

On Wednesday, two separate sittings took place. One was led by the embattled Speaker, Hon. Bilyaminu Ismailh Moriki, while the other was held by a faction of 10 lawmakers under Hon. Bashar Aliyu Gummi, who claims to be the rightful Speaker .
